Invitation by the President of the OIV

Dear Colleagues, Dear Friends,

For my first Congress as OIV President, it is a great pleasure to invite you to join us in Bucharest from 2 to 7 June 2013, thanks to the kind invitation of the Government of Romania.

The unique city of Bucharest and its impressive Parliament will be host to the 36th World Vine and Wine Congress about “Vine and Wine: between tradition and modernity”.

Romania, sometimes presented as the “Old Country of New Wines”, will be the right place for scientists and experts from all over the world to share knowledge and experiences in the different fields of this Congress: Viticulture, Oenology, Economy and Law, and Safety and Health - topics related to sustainability, biodiversity, and innovations and technology.

45 years after the last Congress held in Bucharest in 1968, it is a great opportunity to accept the invitation of the Romanian Ministry of Agriculture in order to get together during this important annual meeting of the world of vine and wine. Romania is a country with excellent climatic and geographic qualities, key factors for the production of high quality wines. This represents a great challenge and transformations focused on competition in the wine market worldwide.

I am convinced that all scientific presentations and exchanges will contribute to the development of a strong impulse to the OIV Strategic Plan.

Looking forward to seeing you in Bucharest next June,
Claudia Ines Quini
OIV President
